Artist Research: Harriet Bart

Bart turned to writing in an ongoing effort to record and remeber American Soldiers that were killed in War. She wrote on long, vertical scrolls of paper the names of over 4000 American soldiers that had been killed. In her final installation of this project, Bart had 7 scrolls. They were filled with the names of peoople that had been killed. This was all written by hand by Harriet Bart in a cursive script font. In an attempt to repesent those that were killed and names unknown, she left the final scroll blank.

From looking at Harriet Bart, I am going to create my own letter, and make it appear from the times of the War. I will do this by using tea/coffee and burning edges of my work. I am going to ytake the written aspect of her work and add text in a curssive font.
