Lino Print
The reason I chose to use the phrase 'The Lost Language' is because it refers back to the idea of letters being sent through the War and getting lost. It also hints at the change in language over the years.
To begin, I did a smple black print, that I didn't like. I wanted a loose, almost ruined look as if it has been through thetrenches, opposed to a clean block of ink. In order to get the look I wanted, instead of layering and covering the whole lino plate in ink, I decided to use it scarcely and blotted sections.
I had also decided to do a series called 'Faded'. This stated as a blocked print, which i continued to print with until the plate ran out of ink. I thought this was a good way to demonstrate how history fades, along with peoples words and thoughts
To take it further, I decided to add some red ink into the print. After doing this with the roller onto the plate, I later chose to paint, by hand, some red ink onto the already finished and dried print.
If i was to do this again, and if I had more time, I would want to create a more refined print with more to it.
