Lakeside Exhibition: Andy Warhol

Today we visited Lakeside in order to view the Andy Warhol exhibition. This is one of the more engagingand visually stimulating exhibitions that we have attended so far.

I have always liked pop art, and Andy Warhol is widely regarded as a pioneer in the Pop Art field. His practice is characterised by the appropriation of mass produced imagery and the use of a commerical visual language. His work is drawn heavily from from advertising, celebrity culture, and everyday consumer goods.

A key method Warhol uses in the silkscreen printing proces, ehich allows dor the mechanical reproduction of images. Repetion is also present in his work, by reproducing the same imae multiple times.

Overall, the exhbition deepened my appreciation for Warhol's work.
