Love Letters
For this experiment I used cartridge paper as the base for my letter. In order to add a personal element and something that is real opposed to generated from ChatGPGT or randomly made up, I have taken lines from a variety of different love notes my boyfriend has given me. This was importrant to me as I didn't want to keep on randomly creating sayings or letters, so using something that was written personally for me felt a lot more meaningful and genuine.
I chose to burn the edges to create a sense of passion and vulnerability. Burning something uses heat, which can represent passion and how love can leave an irreversible mark. I also added a rose, as a symbolism of love, that was showing through a burnt section of the letter. The fire has destroyed the surface, allowing something delicate to be revealed underneath. This is how we, as people, function. A lot of the time you have to chip away at the surface to learn more and become more comfortable around one another.
I was very happy with how this experiment turned out. I think as a whole the piece came together nicely and al the elements I have spoken about previously helped to strengthen the experiment. To improve, I could have added more detail into the rose and further developed the look of the letter in general
