Stopwatch: Clay

One thing I had thought of when I was researching and exploring potential ideas was a stopwatch. Made from air dry clay and then aged using brown and gold elements, the watch resembles an archive keepsake. It works as a resemblance for a passage of time and the survival of memory.

It’s rough texture and imperfect handmade quality emphasises vulnerability and human emotion which heavily contrasts with the standard association with timekeeping. By creating a distressed and vintage aesthetic, the ideas of decay, nostalgia and emotional archive is reinforced.

Overall, the stopwatch acts a symbolic representation of how memories and unresolved emotions can become permanently archived through time.
