Artist Research: Guy Gee

Guy Gee took inspiration from the ancient Greek pantograph (a tool historically used to scale drawings) and went on to establish pantography in 2015. Pantographs were also significant in the production of the world’s first postage stamps.

Gee’s ambition is to create artwork representing every country in the world. For each piece, he carries out a mass amount of research into postage stamps, which he then reinterprets in his own style. These stamps are initially created as miniatures before being enlarged and digitally reimagined, offering a contemporary perspective on traditional stamp design.

I am currently planning to create my own stamps that will be presented along side my suitcases at our exhibition. The pkan is to make my own paper, and then create a personal design on them.
